Reliance Jio is the reason behind all the competition going on in the telecom market right now. However, previously BSNL had announced unlimited calling offer for its prepaid users which also comes with limited free data usage. However, that plan was for BSNL to BSNL only. Now BSNL launched a new Rs.144 plan for its customers which will be valid for six months and will offer unlimited local and STD calls to any network for a period of one month and the same plan also includes 300MB of data. BSNL chairman and Managing director Anupam Srivastava told reporters that in the new pack, calls will be absolutely free and would be available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. BSNL was also taking up several initiatives which include the launch of 4,400 WiFi hotspots across the country. Anupam Srivastava said “We have 4,400 WIFI hotspots launched the country-wide. I think in Mahabalipuram near Chennai has a similar WiFi hotspots. Our immediate strategy is to expand this. In next one year, we will be having around 40,000 WiFi Hotspots across the country,” BSNL even obtained 2500 Mhz from Indian Government for launching service in rural areas. The chairman said BSNL will unveil classic LTE spectrum in a phased manner.
